ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

We are Soze, a worker-owned creative agency for social impact

The Soze Agency’s Summer Internship is for the next generations of thought leaders, creatives , and problem solvers. This program is intended for students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals to experience the inner-workings of a worker-owned social impact creative agency.

While at Soze, interns will have the opportunity to collaborate, learn about each department’s capabilities, build skills, expand upon knowledge and build lasting connections.

BELOW IS A DESCRIPTION OF EACH DEPARTMENT

CLIENT OPERATIONS

The Client Ops Team is accountable for creating standards and practices for the internal working culture of Soze. We foster practices and ways of working that transmit the agency’s core values of authenticity, compassion and equity to our clients, partners and within our team. Our goal is to create trust, accountability and teamwork and to build processes that cultivate feelings of creativity, collaboration and joy when we do our work.

STRATEGY

The Strategy Team at Soze (which also houses our talent projects) ensures that every part of our work is grounded in a clear “why.” We deliver strategic and creative recommendations informed by our clients, the impacted communities they center, and broader culture. We see every project as an opportunity to develop transformative concepts, messages, and ideas shaped into a cohesive, compelling, culturally-relevant strategy. Effective strategists at Soze must be able to think about the ways in which audiences experience creative work of all kinds – from talent to events to social to 360 campaigns and more – and understand how to think of strategic and creative ways to stand out.

CREATIVE

The Creative Department at Soze strives to deliver impactful communications that are grounded in storytelling and materialized with expressiveness and craft. The team is composed of visual designers and creative content and social media experts. We come together to work purposefully across a variety of projects, in collaboration with each other, as well as other departments at the company, teaming up with Strategy and Experiential teams when required. We aim for creative solutions that inform, persuade and delight clients and audiences alike. We want to touch hearts and change minds through creativity, storytelling and art. The creative team delivers content and design to our clients and projects, our output spans campaigns and visual identity building as well as creative content strategy and production at all value levels.

EXPERIENTIAL

The Experiential Department creates impactful experiences that showcase meaningful stories. We craft each experience with care and execute with purpose. Everything we do, every detail of our experiences, is created with intention. Any experience can be deeply personal and foster compassion beyond data sets, reports, and policy documents. Our team is all about disrupting “business as usual.” Often, experiences can be the thing that connects information we know in our heads to become unique beats we have in our hearts.

Our expertise is based on a collective experience of creative activation, curation, exhibition, experiences, galas, production, and retreats in partnership with some of the most well-known, purpose-driven organizations and brands at the frontlines of change.

  • We develop and build purpose-driven and issue-focused brands and campaigns for our clients to bring attention to or solve challenges that may be facing.

  • At Soze, we uplift the stories and experiences of those with proximity to the work we do. We translate these stories into creative outputs by ensuring that the communities our work is benefitting are heard, seen, or felt through our campaigns and the brands we build in partnership with our clients. By telling these stories in our work, we are able to foster compassion and spark conversations among our audiences, which can result in a shift in culture.

  • Interns will gain comprehensive and tactical skills and knowledge through hands-on experience (such as participating in IRL events, campaign ideation, building out strategy, creative design, etc.) and client work. There will be mentorship guided by 1:1s, working sessions internally and with partner organizations, cultural events that are open to attendance, networking opportunities and much more!

  • Our former interns have had opportunities to join Soze in full-time roles and also have pursued incredible career and creative experiences after leaving the agency. They’ve become or built upon their careers as artists, creators, designers and strategists. Please check out the testimonies above to learn more about them!

  • This is dependent on respective departments, projects that each intern is working on with their teams, and the working relationship with managers. Most team members will have a mix of internal touch bases, client calls and “focus time” on their calendars each day. Interns are also encouraged to seize opportunities to listen in and “shadow” their managers. We welcome interns to ask to participate on projects according to their interests.

  • Yes, we do! At Soze, one of our guiding beliefs is that our team members should feel a sense of ownership of their work and that our interns should have hands-on experience. The goal of our internship project is to foster an understanding of how research may be implemented into our work, communicate the importance of various topics with eloquence and expertise, and to grow both skills and knowledge for future applications. Each semester, the internship project itself will change, but at its core, it serves to give the interns creative freedom and to hone in on their respective skills and interests.

    The internship committee will provide a framework, various topics to choose from that align with your interest and skill set, 1:1 and feedback sessions, and a timeline with key dates and milestones.

  • We are one of around 400 workers-owned cooperatives in the U.S. That means that we do not have any investors or holding companies, rather, our employees are the decision makers and owners of the agency.
